Equity Programs

Lines for Life empowers communities of color to achieve mental wellness by addressing stigma and creating culturally specific mental health solutions. We’re working toward a future where mental wellness is accessible to all.

Our current Equity programs and initiatives include:

AIC

Mental Health First Aid Training for Adults in Custody

We equip adults in custody with skills to support mental wellness inside and outside prison.

We partner with the Oregon Department of Corrections to provide Mental Health First Aid training to adults in custody, equipping them with skills to support their own and their peers’ mental wellness. This evidence-based program helps participants recognize warning signs, respond effectively, and reduce stigma.

Beyond incarceration, the training offers a nationally recognized certification that strengthens résumés, prepares individuals for peer support roles, and supports re-entry success. We’re transforming prison culture and empowering incarcerated adults with lifelong mental health skills.

Culturally Specific Programs

Culturally Specific Mental Health Training & Support

We work with culturally specific organizations to meet unique mental health needs in our communities.

Culturally specific organizations play a critical role in supporting communities of color, offering essential services that affirm identities, build hope, and enhance quality of life. We equip trusted connectors – staff and volunteers – with skills to support mental wellness and connect individuals to resources.

Our free, nationally accredited Mental Health First Aid and QPR (suicide prevention) trainings equip community-based organizations (CBOs), nonprofits, and treatment programs serving people of color with the knowledge, skills, and action plans to support individuals facing mental health challenges.

Culturally Specific Substance Abuse Prevention

We equip communities with tools to reduce substance use risks and promote wellness.

We partner with trusted organizations to develop culturally specific substance abuse prevention initiatives, providing education, resources, and support tailored to the unique needs of each community.

Effective prevention requires strategies that acknowledge social, economic, and cultural factors; and engage communities in meaningful, culturally specific ways. We meet communities where they’re at, address root causes, and provide education and resources tailored to specific cultural contexts.
